This original musical comedy tells of Mario Grimaldi, the great Italian opera composer and Angelique LeBeau, the world's greatest Opera singer, who harbours great affection for Mario. The pair comes to Rossland to perform in Rossland's Opera House. While staying at the Shaw Hotel, they meet owner Mrs. Prudence Harrigan, a nasty "social climber" with a dark secret she'd rather nobody learned. Mrs. Harrigan tries to match her obnoxious daughter, Elizabeth, with Mario. But Mario is indifferent toward Elizabeth's and Angelique's advances and instead becomes interested in the hotel's sweet piano player, Ellen Brown, whom Mrs. Harrigan torments mercilessly. As the play unfolds, secrets are revealed, new romances blossom and it all culminates in a wonderful finale from the whole cast and chorus.

From camping in leaky canvas-walled tent trailers in that idyllic summer of 1969 - to a man at the crossroads of mid-life, James traces a trajectory across the landscape of contemporary culture, satirizing everything from button-down-rule-righteous life insurance agents to sanctimonious eco-freaks ... just "connecting the dots" while trying his best to clarify the chaos of this new century we're all walking through before he goes Mental As Anything himself!

Name of Event: Jesse Cook
Location:Charles Bailey Theatre
Admission: $42.00

Paris-born, Toronto-bred flamenco guitarist Jesse Cook is adept at bridging cultures and finding common ground between apparently disparate musical traditions. Releasing seven studio albums in 15 years, the chart-topping artist has visited Egypt, Columbia and beyond in search of new sounds to fuse with the rumba flamenco of his childhood.
Following the success of Frontiers (2007), which hit number one on the New Age Billboard chart, Cook released The Rumba Foundation in 2009. The ambitious project led him to Bogota, Columbia, where he teamed up with Los Gaiteros de San Jacinto for what was to become one of the first recordings to combine traditional Vallenato with rumba flamenco music.
