In the first concert of the season, the revered pianist, Anton Kuerti, recipient in 2008 of a Governor General's Performing Arts Award for Lifetime Artistic Achievement, comes to Trail to perform with the Jacques Thibaud String Trio, from Germany. Named for the celebrated French violinist, the Thibaud Trio has been much praised for its exuberance and virtuosity.

Description:
The Nitty Gritty Dirt Band was formed as a jug band in 1966. More than four decades and a multitude of top selling albums later, the group is still going strong. Younger contemporaries of the Byrds, they played an almost equally important role in the transformation from folk-rock into country-rock and were an influence on such great bands as the Eagles and Alabama. Some of their greatest hits are some of the world's best known songs. Tunes like Mr. Bojangles, Fishin' in teh Dark, Will the Circle be Unbroken?, and many more are known as signature songs for the band. Description:
The Vancouver based NBO was established in 2009 in response to the disbandment of the CBC Radio Orchestra. This will be the first tour of the orchestra under its new name. Performances will be conducted by NBO Artistic Director, Alain Trudel, and violinist Jonathan Crow will join the orchestra as its featured guest artist. Crow, a resident of Montreal, was born in Prince George, BC and has become one of Canada's most prominent classical musicians.

Led by South African, Jimmy Mulovhedzi and by Canadian Holly Wright, this 14-piece ensemble delivers a powerhouse performance that moves seamlessly from traditional African songs to compositions supported by the unique African harmonies, only to catapult the audience into a dancing frenzy of gumboot or Zulu dances. The spectacular vocal harmonies and jaw-dropping dance performances are accompanied by traditional djembe drums and acoustic guitar.

Corazon Ensemble is a high energy chorale of 65 Nelson and area youth singers under the direction of Allison Girvan. True to their name, Corazon sings from the heart and has in turn won the hearts of many Canadian audiences in the nine years since it began.
