Each city has its own vibe. Its own icons and characters that makes it a unique place. A place that many will call home. And every city has also its own memories... Memories that will translate in stories told by women and men who lived in a place they call home, who traveled to a unique place. From these vibes, icons, characters and preciously kept memories, [ZØGMA] captured the essence of SOKALO.  Our SOKALO is a gathering place where we wish to share our memories with friends. Simple things of life that we wish not to forget.

Lizzy Hoyt is a classically-trained multi-instrumentalist, vocalist, fiddler and mandolinist; and step dancer who describes her style as Celtic folk rooted in traditional music. This concert will feature a collection of well-known and obscure holiday carols that will connect the audience to days gone by. Combining her musical with her love of history, Hoyt said many carols are based on Pagan melodies that had Christian lyrics added to them generations later, which means many of the old melodies are well-suited to her Celtic style.

“The Music of Junk” is a fun, energetic show that features eleven musicians playing instruments such as ‘garbage bag’ bagpipes, a ‘wheelbarrow’ bass, and a harp made from an old bed frame, and even a saxophone made from an old bike. Yes, instruments built from junk and recycled materials! Creator Paul Snider made all of the instruments himself from items of garbage and composed the music. The idea came to him during a trip to Kenya, where he saw people recycling trash for all sorts of useful things.

With over 100 films and TV credits to her name, writer and performer Beverley Elliott captures her own childhood in her latest gem, Sink or Swim. We follow along as our heroine trades the safety of the family farm for the thugs of a one-room schoolhouse. With comedic grace and cinematic clarity, Elliott brings to life the big adventures, betrayals and epiphanies of childhood, answering life’s big questions, like “Why did I eat the fish food?” Elliott’s compelling stage presence is backed by evocative video images and Bill Costin’s impeccable piano accompaniment.
