The Silver City Communicators celebrated its fortieth anniversary this year. It was founded in 1963 by a group of women interested in improving their communication skills. We are members of International Training in Communication (ITC) formerly called Toastmistresses. Our goal is to improve communication skills. "The mission of ITC is to provide global opportunities for self-improvement through progressive training in communication and leadership skills."
We meet the second and fourth Thursday of the month at the Colander Restaurant. Here we get to practice our communication skills in a supportive environment. Our work is evaluted and suggestions are given for improvement.
New members and guests are welcome to join us at twelve noon for our meetings.
ITC has a speech contest which our members are encouraged to enter. There are,also, three writing contest which we can enter (poetry, fiction, and non-fiction). One of our members, Beth Truant, won the regional poetry contest this year. She started writing poetry to enter the contest and has been very successful.
